We are working for a civil justice system that is just and fair to the interests of citizens. We believe that a fair and impartial judiciary is essential to a fair civil justice system. We believe in the three branches of government, Executive, Legislative and Judiciary, each of them with clearly defined responsibilities. However, the judiciary has become a government within a government setting its own rules and laws for judges and lawyers, accountable only to itself under a self regulation, generally with no penalty for acting in contravention of the rules and laws. It is important to maintain public awareness of the problems and abuses encountered in the civil justice system. We advocate a fair civil justice system with accountability through the news media, public forums, and in the halls of government. Obviously, the system is out of control and needs correction. Unfortunately, judicial reform is not an issue before our lawmakers that is being adequately addressed due to the influence of special interest groups on the legislative process. The public must become engaged in the debate over judicial reform before there will be solution to the problem. The public is encouraged to seek out their legislators Let us not forget that ours is a government by the people for the people. The people can effect change either through their legislators or through their own state-wide petition drive. What We Work for • To inform and educate the
public on the laws and constitutional provisions on which lawyers and
judges base the regulation of The Florida Bar to which all practicing
attorneys must belong. To uncover the violation of separation of
powers, within the judicial branch. • To hold judges and lawyers
responsible for their behavior to litigants, and make them accountable
and subject them to penalties for the abuse and violation of the
guidelines of the laws and rules. • To bring the courts
especially the Florida State court system into the twenty first
century. To seek the installation of audio and video equipment in the
civil court division of the state court, and video equipment in the
federal court (they already have audio equipment). The audio and video
tapes to be available for public inspection. The audio tapes subject
to be transcribed officially at reasonable rates.
